DISC & DUMESC at the John Hope Franklin Center is accepting proposals for collaborating partners for its Spring 2026 Wednesdays at the Center series.

Program Description
Wednesdays at the Center (W@TC) is a weekly series where scholars, artists, journalists, and others engage in informal discussions about their work with an audience of students, faculty, staff, and community members.
Previously organized, hosted, and archived by the John Hope Franklin Center, collaborating partners assisted with lunch logistics and guest services. As DISC & DUMESC continue this rich JHFC tradition, we have made a few changes: events can now take place in any venue outside of the JHFC and at any time during the day. We will maintain the series name and provide staff support for each event.
All events in the series are free and open to the public.
The series can be hybrid (offered via Zoom) or in person at the John Hope Franklin Center or various locations on campus.
Please view past W@TC events on this YouTube channel.

Format

Each series event lasts between one hour and one hour and a half. Speakers should prepare a presentation lasting 40 to 45 minutes, allowing time for an open forum conversation with the audience at the end of their talk.

Presentations may be recorded, and the videos will be made available on the Franklin Center’s YouTube channel. We plan to support 4-5 events this semester.

Proposals
Proposals must be submitted online. The deadline is December 24, 2025. Questions can be directed to Mbaye Lo (mbayelo@duke.edu) or Erdag Goknar (goknar@duke.edu).
