Laith Elkousy

Laith Elkousy is a sophomore at Duke University majoring in Biology. Originally from Houston, Texas, Laith developed a strong interest in Middle Eastern history, culture, and politics after participating in the Duke in the Arab World program during the summer of 2025. Through the program, he went to Egypt and Morocco, where he had the opportunity to engage with local communities and explore the region’s rich cultural heritage and complex political dynamics firsthand. This immersive experience deepened his passion for the Middle East and sparked a growing academic interest in the region’s historical and geopolitical landscape.
