Join us for a special screening of Hesitation Wound, the award-winning 2023 film by acclaimed director Selman Nacar, followed by a discussion and Q&A with the filmmaker.
This powerful film invites dialogue across disciplines—bringing together students, faculty, and community members interested in world cinema, law and ethics, contemporary Turkey, and questions of justice and humanity.
Hesitation Wound follows Canan, a defense attorney balancing the moral and professional challenges of her work with her personal responsibilities as a daughter. With quiet intensity, the film explores universal themes of family, duty, justice, and the weight of choice while offering a rare cinematic glimpse into life in contemporary Turkey. Premiering at the Venice Film Festival, it has received international acclaim for its compelling storytelling and nuanced portrayal of ethical dilemmas.
Discussion with the director:
There will also be an opportunity to meet with Selman Nacar, the director, to discuss the film and the related TV series. Students and faculty are invited to email us if they are interested. The meeting will take place from 4 to 6 pm on November 21.
